I may be even more confused now that I have all this new information floating around in my head. Thanks for the opportunity. It was fun. Being technology challenged I wasn't sure if I would figure these out. But by following the directions I did manage get a little something out of each task.

maps and geotagging. this is just a little too creepy for me. I did enjoy looking at the beaches off Key West, but then when I scanned over to the residential area I felt a little uneasy.

online applications. google docs & zoho.. I don't think I would use these much since I have these tools already set up with other applications.... It is good to know that they are available though.

avatars...I skipped ahead to do this one out of order since i was so far behind and everyone was having so much fun with it. Guess I forgot to blog about it though. Here's a little insight into my life.. I refused to pay for any clothes for my avatar so she's only got the free wardrobe, but did spend 1000 points on a golden retriever.

search engines. I use Google so much I'd almost forgotten that there are other search engines out there. I have made a mental note to use these more often. I did get pretty much the same results from the searches i did.

OverDrive downloads was very easy. I did find my favorite authors and was able to download a title and listen to the audiobook.

wiki, wiki fun. I can see how this would be a wonderful tool for coordinating food for a dept meeting! That way you won't have duplicates of rice cakes or cheesecake...humm actually extra cheesecake would be ok but you can see where I'm going.

YouTube, Hulu and Fancast.. I liked this very much. I watched a few videos on library cats. Still don't see a reason we can't have one here at SRV. I can see that these would be very helpful for folks who want to see old TV shows not out on dvd, or even if they are they can watch missed episodes for free! On a personal note I have always found reasons to relate some things in my life to the 1979 version of The Amityville Horror. My life is no horror movie but there are some things in my life always bring that leads me to say "it's just like in the Amityville Horror." Believe it or not there are some folks out there that have not seen this movie. Now I can direct them to fancast and they can watch it. I enjoyed the SIX DEGREES section as well.

My space is something my kids have used for years, now facebook is the thing I hear.. It's nice to be able to log on and see what you network of friends and family are up to. Though I find it just easier to use email, am I showing my age? I love looking at the profiles and pictures. It is something I will probably continue to use.

Pandora & streaming music is great. I had used this in the past just didn't know that I was streaming music! It's good to have a technical name instead of calling it "that music thing".

RSS & feed readers looks scary but really wasn't. Now I have many things to read up on in my spare time. This could all be very addicting. Who needs 8 hours of sleep a night anyway? I can't believe we have been doing this for 5 weeks! Thanks for the opportunity to dazzle my adult children with my new found knowledge. :-)

OK I've had to play catch up but here I am blogging about IM. It helps to have an IM buddy and my thanks to Mahalo. It was very enjoyable. Of coarse IM is not new to either of us as we both learned to IM together many years ago on AOL. We actually watched award shows while IMing ...that way we could comment on the winner's (and the "it's on honor just to be nominated" folks) speeches, choice of attire, hair styles, etc.

It looks like I'm a week late on my tasks. I'll try to catch up this week. I always say I work better under pressure. We shall see. Been having a fun time reading other blogs and it looks like I still have some work to do on mine to personalize it a bit more. This could turn into a full time job! Just kidding...

cats and dogs

I can't help but notice how differently my cats and dog relate (or don't relate) to visitors to our home. We had a house full of family for dinner yesterday. As soon as the doorbell rang one of our cats took off like she was shot out of a cannon and not seen again until the last visitor left 6 hours later. The other cat slept on the back of the couch for 5 & 3/4 hours and never seemed to stir as different relitives sat with his feet resting on their hair, shoulders, etc...some young, some old, some loud, some quiet, one under the age of 3 and a few in their 80s..it didnt' matter to him. He slept through the doorbell ringing, the door opening and closing, music playing, cooking, eating, clean up and an easter egg hunt. He did get up once and demand to be fed, then a quick cat bath and back to sleep in his place of honor. The dog, a large golden retriever had to be right in the middle of things from the first doorbell ring to the last goodbye. He greeted quests, followed them to until they sat so he would be right there to get his pats on the head. He was in the middle of my small galley style kitchen while 3 people tried to cook a meal, he made sure anything that dropped on the from the counter was eaten before it hit the floor! He was under the table during dinner, helped find Easter eggs and said goodbye at the door when the last guest left. As the last guest was driving away and we closed the door and the cat we hadn't seen all day made an demand for food, then went outside, the sleeping cat woke up and went outside, the dog followed them outside, came back in, got a drink and promptly went to sleep & slept until this morning.
